Gravity (Movie)

Movie review!

I was so excited to see this! I knew it was a movie that I had to see in theatres, on the big screen, and beyond the television commercials I had seen, I didn’t know anything about this movie’s plot. I am a George Clooney and Sandra Bullock fan, so I was pretty confident that I would like this movie when I went to see it this past Sunday with a friend.

If you haven’t seen the trailer, you can watch it here (via Youtube):

Going in knowing pretty much nothing about the plot is probably the best way to go in to this movie. It was incredible! It was so tense, and Sandra Bullock was fabulous. I inhaled my popcorn in the first 15 minutes of the movie, something I do when I’m feeling anxious or scared while watching something, and the tension didn’t let up.

The length was just right, at 90 minutes. It feels like every movie these days is a bloated 2 or 3 hour epic, and often I find the story suffers when stretched out that long. This movie was well-paced and when it was over, I felt like I could finally breathe again!

Visually, this movie is stunning. I’m so glad I saw it in a theatre on a large screen, because it was beautiful. And I thought the effects were seamlessly integrated into the film, all done so well that I didn’t stop to wonder “How’d they do that?” until after the movie was over. I read in a couple of reviews (and only after I saw the movie!) that they pioneered many new special effects for this movie, and it certainly felt like I was seeing something new. I’ve seen a lot of space-y movies, but this felt like nothing I’d seen before.

Overall, this is a must see! And if you can see it before it leaves theaters, I would recommend that you do!
