Just One Reader's Opinion!

Is It Christmas Yet?

My Christmas Craziness has officially set in! I am already listening to my Christmas music play list and have a Christmas-themed background for my computer. I’ve also begun my Christmas shopping already – I bought gifts for both of my sisters and that puts me almost halfway through my shopping list!

Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year. I like walking home from work in the darkΒ  in the cold with the holiday lights on the streets, listening to my favourite Christmas songs, and I make sure to always have a skinny peppermint mocha from Starbucks each weekend.

My favourite Christmas memories are the ones where I was a kid on Christmas break from school, in my parents’ old house with a huge, super-decorated Christmas tree in the family room and a cat or two curled up underneath. It was a fun time to be with my family, eating Christmas treats, shaking presents, and watching our traditional holiday movies. Getting an original NES system one Christmas is completely responsible for my enduring love of video games and all things Nintendo. I love the smells, sights, sounds, of the holiday season and although I may begin celebrating a lot earlier than most people, I don’t think there’s any harm – it just makes me happy!

On the reading front, I feel like I read so much and so quickly in September and October that I simply couldn’t maintain that pace. I am reading a couple of books at the moment, but I’m also playing video games (Pokemon White 2!) and catching up on fall tv shows with Mr. Pingwing (Walking Dead, Dexter, Vampire Diaries, Burn Notice, Arrow, etc.). I will be posting a review in another week or so, I think, but I’m trying to balance all of my interests so that I don’t focus on one so much that I exclude the others, which is what usually happens.

Merry Christmas!

  1. Kim, we truly are bosom buddies! I am also getting excited for the joyous holiday season. Seeing as this is a book blog, I thought I would share my favorite novel to read at Christmas time, ‘Little Women’. Maybe it’s because I have four sisters, but something about he bond of the Marsh sisters pulls at my heart strings. For those of you who have never read this Christmas classic, it’s a must read his holiday season!

  2. Kim, when I think of Christmas, I think of you. And how much you enjoy it – thoroughly enjoy it – and not just the gifts. You’ve always had such fun with the entire season: the music, the baking, the decorating, the planning – you were always the one person in the family who knew exactly how many days until Christmas. And can I mention you and Christmas without thoughts of our favourite family film: “The Muppet Family Christmas”? Or CD: John Denver and the Muppets singing “The 12 Days of Christmas” with Miss Piggy warbling “five golden riiiiings” as an earworm I hope I never lose. So, shortbreads again this year? How many dozens?

I wound up enjoying this book so much that I immediately bought the rest of the books in the series and read them all one right after the other!
