Just One Reader's Opinion!

Week In Review

August 17 – 30

I didn’t do one of these last week, because I was too busy preparing to pack and then actually packing last week, and then moving all of our furniture on the weekend. There has been a bit of a delay with occupancy, meaning we’ve moved our stuff into the new place but haven’t actually been able to live there yet. This is not exactly how I planned to spend my week off of work. But we’re staying with friends so we have a roof over our heads and I’m counting down the days until we can live in the new place!!

So many new books in the last couple of weeks to talk about!! I went nuts on Edelweiss with the Harper titles (no regrets!) and bought a couple of e-books, since my physical books and ARCs are packed up in the new condo but I am somewhere else.

From Edelweiss:

Broken Crowns (Internment Chronicles #3) by Lauren DeStefano;

Valkyrie by Kate O’Hearn;

The Mystery of Hollow Places by Rebecca Podos;

Harmony House by Nic Sheff;

Reign of Shadows by Sophie Jordan;

Dreamology by Lucy Keating;

The Lifeboat Clique by Kathy Parks (I’m SUPER excited to read this!!);

The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine;

Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers;

A Drop of Night by Stefan Bachmann (anything that mentions the French Revolution has my immediate interest!);

The Great Hunt by Wendy Higgins;

Burning Glass by Kathryn Purdie;

Shallow Graves by Kali Wallace; and

A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro.

I also received an a-ARC of Radiance by Catherynne M. Valente from Raincoast (thank you!) and HCC Frenzy sent me a physical copy of Worlds of Ink and Shadow, signed by author Lena Coakley (thank you!).

I also have an e-ARC of I Crawl Through It by A.S. King, from Netgalley (hooray! I’m looking forward to this one).

As for books purchased, I bought e-books of Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella; In a World Just Right by Jen Brooks; and The Night Sister by Jennifer McMahon.

I also bought a physical copy of Slasher Girls and Monster Boys, curated byΒ April Genevieve Tucholke (I’m REALLY excited to read this!) and Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1, by G. Willow Wilson.

Life has been pretty hectic so I’ve only finished one book in the last couple of weeks: Felicia Day’s You’re Never Weird on the Internet (LOVED).

Currently I’m still reading The Scorpion Rules by Erin Bow (I was enjoying it but it’s packed up somewhere and I can’t get to it!), Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1, and Ungodly (Goddess War #3) by Kendare Blake.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve shared reviews of The Creeping by Alexandra Sirowy; Armada by Ernest Cline; Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray; and The Dogs by Allan Stratton.

Coming up this week is my review of Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman, and possibly You’re Never Weird on the Internet if I actually get around to writing that review.

That’s it for me! Hopefully this time next week I’ll be living in the new place. Happy reading!

    I wound up enjoying this book so much that I immediately bought the rest of the books in the series and read them all one right after the other!
