Just One Reader's Opinion!

Week In Review

September 28 – October 4

October is here! Autumn is my favourite season, and it’s begun! I love the changing leaves, the cooler weather, my TV shows are coming back on the air (iZombie and Supernatural premieres are coming this week!!!!!!!!!!), the Halloween candy and scary movies that are always on TV, and in my mind, autumn is the lead-up to Christmas!

I had a busy week! On Tuesday, I went to a book launch for Amy Alward’s Madly, which I can’t wait to read (I LOVE that cover!); on Wednesday I went out for dinner with some of my book club gals; and on Friday, I went out to see The Martian at the movie theatre (LOVED!). In between all of that, I didn’t get much reading done!

On Wednesday, I picked up a gift bag of ARCs from the Toronto bloggers’ meet up, which was held a while ago but I couldn’t attend. I’m very thankful for the books! They are:

Legacy of Kings, by Eleanor Herman;

Poles Apart, by Terry Fallis;

Zeroes, by Scott Westerfeld, Margo Lanagan, and Deborah Biancotti;

Let’s Get Lost and Never Always Sometimes, by Adi Alsaid;

The Time In Between, by Nancy Tucker; and

The Night Sister, by Jennifer McMahon (I have a feeling this will make an excellent spooky October read!).

I also bought a finished copy of Madly at the book launch, and got it signed by Amy!

Other books purchased this week:

Six of Crows, by Leigh Bardugo (I needed a finished copy!! It’s so beautiful);

Why Not Me?, by Mindy Kaling; and

The Heart Goes Last, by Margaret Atwood.

Like I said above, I didn’t get much reading done this week. I didn’t finish any books, but I made a little bit of progress with Kim Liggett’s Blood and Salt, and I started an ARC of Patrick Ness’s The Rest of Us Just Live Here (SO EXCITED about this book!).

I posted reviews this past week of Sally Christie’s The Sisters of Versailles (with a giveaway – there’s still time to enter as I type this!), and Daughters Unto Devils by Amy Lukavics (excellent if you’re looking for a creepy read).

I don’t have any reviews coming up this week, but if I finish either book I’m reading, I might have a review of it by Friday. But don’t hold your breath!

That’s it for me! I’m going to have some coffee, do some more reading, and then watch the season finale of Fear The Walking Dead!!

Happy reading!
