Just One Reader's Opinion!

Week In Review

September 23 – 29

Hello! It’s Breaking Bad day! Can you believe it’s finally here? Are you ready? I’m not! I have no idea how this show is going to end, but I’ve amused myself by making some pretty wild predictions. I can’t believe the final episode will air tonight!Β  My husband and I actually won’t watch it until tomorrow, so I’ll be avoiding Twitter, Facebook, the internet and people in general as much as I can until we’ve seen it!

Although that show is ending, I’m really excited for all the fall TV shows that are coming back! I have a calendar on my computer where I keep track of things like my scheduled blog posts, release dates for books I’m excited about, and now I’ve put the premiere dates of some TV shows in too. And I’ve already missed a bunch of them and fallen behind! Oh well.

So far, New Girl and The Mindy Project have cracked me up. They are two of my favourite comedies. I’ve also been totally loving Sleepy Hollow! I didn’t even put its premiere in my calendar as I didn’t intend to watch it, but at the last minute I turned it on in time to catch the premiere and it’s so great! Only two episodes have aired so far, but I love the combination of humour with the spookier elements of the show, and I like the two main characters, Ichabod and Abbie. I saw the Elementary season premiere and loved it too – it’s a really great show, it will hold me over until the BBC’s Sherlock eventually returns, and I adore the chemistry between Jonny Lee Miller’s Sherlock and Lucy Liu’s Watson.

I meant to watch the premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.– I’m aΒ  huge Joss Whedon fan and I looooooove The Avengers movie – but I was out that night at a book event so I’ll have to catch it via Rogers OnDemand if I can.

I’m also trying to catch up on some existing shows so that I can get into their upcoming seasons! Kathy lent me her first season of Once Upon a Time, and although it’s taking me a while to get through (I’ve only seen the first three episodes at the time of writing this post), I’m loving it!

I think the show I’m most excited for is Supernatural. Season 9 y’all! This is my favourite show and I can’t wait to see where it goes this season. I’ve also got my younger sister starting to watch it (she’s finished season one), and I love talking about it with her and getting random texts while she’s watching an episode! I’m excited for her to meet Castiel and there are certain episodes that I love that I’m really looking forward to discussing with her!

I could go on and on and on about TV, but I will stop myself there. I have been doing other things with my time (listening to Welcome to Nightvale and Vic’s Basement podcasts; watching Joseph Birdsong videos on YouTube; checking out Grand Theft Auto V; watching The Fox video – in short, living a pretty glamorous life), including reading!

On Tuesday I went to the Ottawa Public Library’s Sunnyside branch with Jessica, Emilie, and Kathy to hear author Elizabeth Wein read from her new book Rose Under Fire, which is the companion to Code Name Verity. Elizabeth was really nice and funny and signed our books after! It was my first author event, and I wish we got more of those in Ottawa. I’ll be going to see Lauren Oliver in November, so I’m looking forward to that! Hopefully I can get a copy of Before I Fall signed!

This week I finished reading Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano and Hideous Love by Stephanie Hemphill. Both books come out this week, so I’ll be posting my reviews in a few days.

I’m still reading Feed by Mira Grant, and am probably going to (finally) start reading Alexandra Bracken’s The Darkest Minds today or tomorrow, as it’s due back to the library soon.

Last week I posted my reviews of Find Me by Romily Bernard, Vicious by Victoria Schwab, and Earthbound by Aprilynne Pike. I also shared my Waiting on Wednesday post for Ashes to Ashes, and confessed my book buying problem in this blog post.

There are lots of reviews coming up this week:Β  Truth or Dare by Jacqueline Green, Perfect Ruin, Hideous Love, Cracked Up To Be by Courtney Summers, and Life After Theft by Aprilynne Pike. Phew!

I’m going to try and relax with a book today but I know my mind will be on Breaking Bad all day! I can’t wait to see how it ends, but I’m also sad that this intense, twisty, unpredictable, well-written, amazingly-acted show will be over. At least I’ve got all that fall TV to cheer me up!

Happy Sunday!

I wound up enjoying this book so much that I immediately bought the rest of the books in the series and read them all one right after the other!
