July 28 – August 3
Yay for the long weekend! I’m really excited to have Monday off,Β because when I go back to work I’m going to have three very busy weeks ahead of me. I’ll finally be going on vacation at the end of August though, and I can’t wait!
So far I’ve spent the weekend doing a ton of reading and catching up on writing reviews (I cleared my To Review backlog, yay!), and watching a ton of Psych with my husband via Netflix. I love that show!
I received a couple of items I bought from the Welcome to Night Vale store that I’m super excited about! I got a poster that I’m hoping to find a nice frame for, and an All Hail the Glow Cloud t-shirt! I’m going to wear this all weekend!
This week has been ridiculously awesome as far as new books go. I’ve been very spoiled courtesy of Edelweiss, Netgalley, my friends, the library, and my own wallet.Β (Images from Goodreads, except for a couple I took of my new books)
From Edelweiss:
Liars, Inc. by Paula Stokes (pub. date: March 2015) – I’m all over murder mysteries lately, and this one sounds great.
Bone Gap by Laura Ruby (pub. date: March 2015) – This sounds strange and twisty, which I love! And that cover!
The Distance Between Lost and Found by Kathryn Holmes (pub. date: February 2015) – Stranded in the wilderness! Secrets! Yes please!
The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand (pub. date: February 2015) – I read and loved her Unearthly series and am really excited to read her next book!
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard (pub. date: March 2015) – Okay, first of all, THAT COVER. This sounds like a really great new fantasy read.
Everything That Makes You by Moria McStay (pub. date: March 2015) – This sounds super intriguing!
My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga (pub. date: February 2015) – This one sounds so intense and heavy, and I really want to read it.
A Wicked Thing by Rhiannon Thomas (pub. date: February 2015) – Sleeping Beauty wakes up after sleeping for 100 years. I’m definitely interested in this one!
From Netgalley:
Blood of My Blood by Barry Lyga (pub. date: September 2014) – I am beyond excited to read the final book in this series!
The Dickens Mirror by Ilsa J. Bick (pub. date: March 2015) – The first book, White Space, was so bizarre and frustrating but I have to know how it ends.
These are the books I have borrowed from the library, been gifted, and purchased:
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (purchased)
The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith (purchased)
Pantomime by Laura Lam (gifted ARC)
Still Star-Crossed by Melinda Taub (gifted ARC)
Reality Boy by A.S. King (from library)
Sabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen by Garth Nix (purchased)
Phew! SO MANY BOOKS!
While I was busy acquiring all that book goodness, I was also busy reading this week! I finished reading three ARCs:
Broken Monsters by Lauren Beukes
Get Even by Gretchen McNeil
Can’t Look Away by Donna Cooner
I’m currently reading Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins and an ARC of Jackaby by William Ritter. I’m almost done Lola, and trying to decide which book to start after that.
I posted my reviews of Dissonance by Erica O’Rourke and Bird Box by Josh Malerman earlier this week. Four stars to each!
Coming up on the blog are my ARC reviews of:
Servants of the Storm by Delilah S. Dawson
Behind the Scenes by Dahlia Adler
Virgin by Radhika Sanghani
I’m off to enjoy the rest of my long weekend! Happy Sunday!
