September 2025
I don’t always feel like writing a full review for everything. I was inspired by Modern Mrs. Darcy’s Quick Lit posts and decided to do something similar as a way to briefly discuss the books I read in a month but don’t write full reviews for.
My September reading was much slower than the previous months, mostly because I was playing a lot of Nintendo instead of reading. I read six books, and haven’t reviewed any of them yet, so here are my thoughts on September’s reads:

True Story, Kate Reed Petty (library) – 4⭐
This was such an intriguing read, and part of what I really enjoyed about it was the format. It is told across various timelines, by various narrators, and it kept me reading, wanting to know what was going on and what really happened.
She Memes Well, Quinta Brunson (library) – 3.5⭐
This was funny, and after reading it, I can’t wait for new episodes of Abbott Elementary!
One Dark Night, Hannah Richell (library) – 3.5⭐
This was a good read, but I think if you’re like me and read a lot of mysteries and thrillers, nothing in this book will surprise you, despite its twists.

Clown Town, Mick Herron (purchased) – 4⭐
This was one of my most-anticipated books this year, and it lived up to my expectations! I love the way Mick Herron tells the stories of the Slough House gang, always surprising me with plot twists and unexpected outcomes. The ending of this one has me already eager to read the next installment to see what happens next with Jackson Lamb and his joes!
Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, Leah Remini (library) – 3.5⭐
I checked this out because I so enjoy Leah Remini on King of Queens reruns, but the scientology stuff was pretty fascinating! Good for her for getting out of that and speaking up.
The Thirteenth Tale, Diane Setterfield (purchased) – 4⭐
This was a re-read for book club, but since it had been at least 10 years since I first read this, I didn’t remember a thing, except that I had really liked it. On a re-read, I still enjoyed it, particularly the bookish character Margaret. This was a great moody, atmospheric read!
