Since my last movie update, I have watched a bunch of movies, mostly of the Hallmark Christmas variety on TV. I haven’t included those on the list, but trust that it was pretty much every new movie Hallmark put out in November and December.
Here are all the other movies I’ve watched since my last movies post, in chronological order, and linked to Letterboxd, with the ones I particularly enjoyed in bold:
- The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
- The Naked Gun (2025) – I don’t know if I ever saw the original movie in full, so I went into this with no expectations. But I thought this was so fun.
- Insidious: The Red Door
- The Invitation
- Shelby Oaks – This had a couple of good scenes but I thought this was just okay overall, which was kind of a bummer because I was excited to see it.
- The Conjuring: Last Rites
- Now You See Me – I was in the mood for something kind of fun and silly, and this was the right movie for that!
- Now You See Me 2 – Definitely not as good as the first movie, and suffers from a lack of Isla Fisher.
- Smile 2 – This had some cool visual elements, and Naomi Scott is really good.
- Case 39
- The Muppet Christmas Carol (rewatch) – I saw this before Christmas at the NAC with a live orchestra, and it was magical!
- Die Hard (rewatch)
- A Muppet Family Christmas (rewatch)
- Man Finds Tape
- Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital – I love Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum, on which this is based. Gonjiam is the better movie, but this had some really fun moments.
- Wake Up Dead Man – This is definitely my favourite in the Knives Out series. I didn’t enjoy the first movie much but liked the second movie. This one, though, is fantastic.
- Borderless Fog
- Rope – I had never seen this before, and I went in not really knowing much about it. It was excellent. I loved the tension and the way it appears to be filmed in one long take.
