Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s topic is:

Top Ten Favourite Movies and TV Shows

I love watching television. I don’t consistently watch too many, but when I get really into a show, I want to binge watch it non-stop. I love movies too, but I don’t think I see that many movies. Usually I wait until I can watch something on Netflix or rent it through my cable provider.

I am really hesitant to add many recent shows to my list of favourites, so many of these are shows (and movies) that I’ve loved for years. In no particular order:

Supernatural1. Supernatural

If you know me at all, this will not surprise you to see this show on my list. This is my favourite. In fact, earlier this summer I wrote a post all about my love for the show.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Ah, this show. I watched it many years ago and rewatch it from time to time on either DVD or Netflix. I’m trying to get my husband to watch it so he can see how awesome it is and the influence it’s had on television shows that have come after, and I think we have made it partway through season three.

Angel3. Angel

As much as I love Buffy, I love this spin-off more. I’m trying to wrangle my thoughts on this into a future Why I Love… post, but it’s not easy! I get super intensely passionate and emotional about this show!

Bob's Burgers4. Bob’s Burgers

I actually started watching this because of H. Jon Benjamin, who voiced some characters on another show I love called Home Movies many years ago. This show is so charming and funny and I absolutely adore Tina, Bob and Linda’s eldest child. She is so awkward yet confident, and we have a mutual love of zombies.

Happy Endings5. Happy Endings

This is one of the funniest comedies, and my heart broke when it was cancelled. This show cracked me up like no other. No matter what kind of day I’d had at work, I could count on this show to have me laughing so hard I cried. My favourite episodes include the one with the v-neck intervention, the tennis duel, and the Hallowe’en episode with Max and Penny’s joint costume.

Gilmore Girls6. Gilmore Girls

Growing up, I basically wanted to be Rory Gilmore. I love the combination of humour and heart on this show, and despite my mixed feelings about Logan, and the way this series ended, I will love this show until the end of time.

The Walking Dead7. The Walking Dead

It’s no secret that I love zombie stuff, although I am actually quite picky about the zombie stuff I enjoy. This show is obviously one of my favourites! The production quality is awesome – the zombies look so disgustingly real – and the storylines have continued to get better every season. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Shaun of the Dead8. Shaun of the Dead

I love all the movies in the Cornetto Trilogy (this movie, Hot Fuzz, and The World’s End), but this one is my favourite, for a few reasons: 1. Zombies, obviously. 2. It’s a funny send-up of zombie tropes. 3. It’s hilarious. 4. It’s also sweet.

28 Days Later9. 28 Days Later

Although this is not technically a zombie movie, this ignited my love for zombie stuff. The scenes of an empty London, with Cillian Murphy wandering in hospital scrubs with no idea what’s happened while he was unconscious, were wonderfully eerie. It’s exciting and chilling and wonderful. I love love love this movie so much.

Die Hard10. Die Hard

My heart will always belong to action movies. I love so many of them, but this is my first action move love. This entire series is awesome (with some bumps, ahem A Good Day to Die Hard), but this one is the best (although the fourth in the series, Live Free or Die Hard, is a close second). It’s such a classic, and of course, because it takes place at Christmas (my favourite holiday!), I make sure to watch it every year at Christmas.

Do you watch any of these? Let me know your favourite shows and movies in the comments or on Twitter!
