November 2024
Iβve been reading so much, but I donβt always feel like writing a full review for everything. I was inspired byΒ Modern Mrs. Darcyβs Quick LitΒ posts, as well as Hannah atΒ So Obsessed Withβs monthly Quick Lit posts, and decided to do something similar as a way to briefly discuss the books I read in a month but donβt write full reviews for.
November was a slower reading month for me. I finished six books, and only really loved one of them:
The Hitchcock Hotel, Stephanie Wrobel (purchased) – 3β
This had a fun premise, but it was a very average read for me. If you don’t read many mysteries and thrillers, the Hitchcock angle could make this a fun standout, but rather than feeling like a clever, suspenseful story, it felt like a run of the mill mystery for me.
We Solve Murders, Richard Osman (purchased) – 4β
This was a very fun, fast read and the best book I read in November. I enjoyed it so much that I finally went back and read Osman’s first book, The Thursday Murder Club (which I also loved).
The Secret Lives of Booksellers and Librarians: True Stories of the Magic of Reading, James Patterson and Matt Eversmann (purchased) – 4β
This was a quick, sweet non-fiction read. Each story is brief and nothing gets too in depth, which did leave me wanting more from certain stories, but it was a nice celebration of the world of booksellers and librarians.
A Murder at Balmoral, Chris McGeorge (e-ARC) – 3β
This had a really fun premise, but after a few chapters the obnoxiousness of the royal family members really grated on me, and the ending felt somewhat out of place. But as a bonus, it took place at Christmas so it was fun to read a seasonal mystery.
Little Mysteries: Nine Miniature Puzzles to Confuse, Enthrall, and Delight, Sara Gran (e-ARC) – 3β
This was a unique collection of short stories, some of which I really enjoyed, some of which I think either went over my head or just didn’t capture me.
I Need You to Read This, Jessa Maxwell (purchased) – 3β
I listened to this on audio. The narration was good but the story itself was just fine.
So that’s November done. Now I just need to do December’s Quick Lit and I’ll be caught up!!
