Just One Reader's Opinion!

Recent Movies

Well, ‘recent’ is not quite accurate, since some of these are movies I watched months ago, but I am slowly getting my attention span back for movies and TV shows. And with spooky season here (I’ve decided it’s here, I don’t care what the calendar says), all I want to watch are horror movies.

So here is a list of what I’ve watched over the past few months (they aren’t all horror movies), in no particular order, with the ones I especially enjoyed in bold:

  1. Train to Busan (rewatch) – South Korean zombie movie; one of my favourites
  2. Ready or Not – a really fun slasher movie
  3. One Cut of the Dead – Japanese zombie movie; if you get the chance to see this, please do! It’s so clever and fun
  4. The Lighthouse
  5. Snowpiercer
  6. It Follows
  7. Downton Abbey
  8. Happy Death Day
  9. Raiders!
  10. The Lodge – this was really good and atmospheric
  11. Night of the Living Dead (original)
  12. Under the Shadow – Persian-language horror movie that I thought was pretty good
  13. The Night Eats the World – French zombie movie
  14. It Comes at Night
  15. Time to Hunt – South Korean action movie
  16. The Old Guard – this was a really fun Charlize Theron-led action movie
  17. Body at Brighton Rock
  18. The Night Comes For Us – Indonesian action movie
  19. Veronica – Spanish horror movie
  20. She Dies Tomorrow
  21. The Pool – Thai-language movie about a guy stuck in an empty pool with a crocodile; a fun creature movie
  22. Don’t Leave Home
  23. We Are Still Here
  24. I’m Thinking of Ending Things
  25. Shoplifters – fantastic Japanese film about family/found family and class, poverty
  26. Tigers Are Not Afraid – Mexican horror movie about children and the drug war; excellent performances by the child actors; highly recommend
  27. #Alive – South Korean zombie movie about a guy who is alone in his apartment when the zombie outbreak begins
  28. Article 15 – Indian Hindi-language drama/mystery
  29. Parasite (rewatch) – I just really love this movie
