Well, ‘recent’ is not quite accurate, since some of these are movies I watched months ago, but I am slowly getting my attention span back for movies and TV shows. And with spooky season here (I’ve decided it’s here, I don’t care what the calendar says), all I want to watch are horror movies.
So here is a list of what I’ve watched over the past few months (they aren’t all horror movies), in no particular order, with the ones I especially enjoyed in bold:
- Train to Busan (rewatch) – South Korean zombie movie; one of my favourites
- Ready or Not – a really fun slasher movie
- One Cut of the Dead – Japanese zombie movie; if you get the chance to see this, please do! It’s so clever and fun
- The Lighthouse
- Snowpiercer
- It Follows
- Downton Abbey
- Happy Death Day
- Raiders!
- The Lodge – this was really good and atmospheric
- Night of the Living Dead (original)
- Under the Shadow – Persian-language horror movie that I thought was pretty good
- The Night Eats the World – French zombie movie
- It Comes at Night
- Time to Hunt – South Korean action movie
- The Old Guard – this was a really fun Charlize Theron-led action movie
- Body at Brighton Rock
- The Night Comes For Us – Indonesian action movie
- Veronica – Spanish horror movie
- She Dies Tomorrow
- The Pool – Thai-language movie about a guy stuck in an empty pool with a crocodile; a fun creature movie
- Donβt Leave Home
- We Are Still Here
- Iβm Thinking of Ending Things
- Shoplifters – fantastic Japanese film about family/found family and class, poverty
- Tigers Are Not Afraid – Mexican horror movie about children and the drug war; excellent performances by the child actors; highly recommend
- #Alive – South Korean zombie movie about a guy who is alone in his apartment when the zombie outbreak begins
- Article 15 – Indian Hindi-language drama/mystery
- Parasite (rewatch) – I just really love this movie
