When kingdom come, there will be one.

In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born—three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.

But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins.

The last queen standing gets the crown.

I’ve had this on my TBR for ages!! I really don’t know why I took so long to get around to reading this, but now I’m super excited for the other books in the series.

I love Kendare Blake’s books, and I had heard that this series was good and dark, so I was pretty sure once I finally read Three Dark Crowns, I would enjoy it.

It took me a while to get into this book, but by the end, I was fully invested. I really liked the worldbuilding, and the characters were so interesting (Arisone was my favourite). And the end of the book took some turns that I didn’t see coming, leaving me wanting to read the next book, One Dark Throne, ASAP.

If you haven’t read this book, and if you’re a fan of dark YA fantasy, you’ve got to read it!
