When kingdom come, there will be one.
In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is bornβthree queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.
But becoming the Queen Crowned isnβt solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And itβs not just a game of win or loseβ¦itβs life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins.
The last queen standing gets the crown.
I’ve had this on my TBR for ages!! I really don’t know why I took so long to get around to reading this, but now I’m super excited for the other books in the series.
I love Kendare Blake’s books, and I had heard that this series was good and dark, so I was pretty sure once I finally read Three Dark Crowns, I would enjoy it.
It took me a while to get into this book, but by the end, I was fully invested. I really liked the worldbuilding, and the characters were so interesting (Arisone was my favourite). And the end of the book took some turns that I didn’t see coming, leaving me wanting to read the next book, One Dark Throne, ASAP.
If you haven’t read this book, and if you’re a fan of dark YA fantasy, you’ve got to read it!
