Just One Reader's Opinion!

Week In Review

October 13 – 19

My reading was pretty non-existant this week! I’ve been rewatching Gilmore Girls, one of my favourite shows, courtesy of Netflix. I somehow, foolishly, thought I could read while Gilmore Girls played in the background, which of course was silly because I’d get sucked into the show and put my book down.

But I’m trying to get back into reading and not watch like ten episodes of Gilmore Girls in a day!

Anyway, as for books I acquired this week, I’m happy to say that my buying ban is still in effect! But I remembered another book I pre-ordered a long time ago that comes out this week: Blue Lily, Lily Blue (Raven Cycle #3) by Maggie Stiefvater! I’m so so so excited for this!! And I’ve decided this doesn’t count as breaking my ban because it was ordered quite a while ago.

From Edelweiss this week, I received arcs of Razorhurst by Justine Larbalestier, and Most Likely to Succeed (Superlatives #3) by Jennifer Echols. I also received an arc of Diamonds in the Rough (The Secret Diamond Sisters #2) by Michelle Madow from Netgalley.

I also picked up some more library books. I now have a huge stack of library books, none of which I’ve started reading yet! The latest additions are All She Was Worth by Miyuki Miyabe, and No Easy Way Out (No Safety in Numbers #2) by Dayna Lorentz.

I only finished reading one book this week: Winterspell (arc) by Claire Legrand. I am really not sure how to write a review because I didn’t enjoy the book at all, which made me so sad. I was looking forward to reading this for months and months. I was so so so excited to read this, and I heard the author speak at a panel when I was in New York for BEA and she seemed so nice and fun and smart and I wanted to read and love her book. And I don’t enjoy writing reviews of something I didn’t enjoy, but I did read the entire book and feel that I should write something about my thoughts. So I’ll be working on that this week.

Currently, I’m still reading Heir of Fire, and I’ve just started reading Michelle Madow’s The Secret Diamond Sisters.

Last week I posted my reviews of:

The Glass Casket, by McCormick Templeman;

Welcome to the Dark House, by Laurie Faria Stolarz; and

Famous Last Words by Katie Alender.

Coming up this week are my reviews of:

Fiendish, by Brenna Yovanoff;

The Merciless, by Danielle Page; and

Dancer, Daughter, Traitor, Spy by Elizabeth Kiem.

I’ll also be sharing my thoughts on Gone Girl (movie).

That’s it for me! Time to pour some coffee and snuggle on the couch with my book! Happy Sunday!

    I wound up enjoying this book so much that I immediately bought the rest of the books in the series and read them all one right after the other!
