January 19 – 25
Good morning! It got cold again here, just when I was hoping that we were past the worst of the freezing cold temperatures. It was definitely a week to stay inside and read!
I made good use of my library again, picking up three more books:
Alex by Pierre Lemaitre;
The Bone Clocks, by David Mitchell; and
52 Reasons to Hate My Father, by Jessica Brody.
I also received a couple of items via Netgalley: The Haunting of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie & Alyssa Sheinmel, and a preview of A Darker Shade of Magic by Victoria Schwab, which I’m super excited about because her book Vicious is one of my favourites!
I finished reading a few books this week, and they were all excellent:
Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel;
Red Queen (arc) by Victoria Aveyard; and
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins (I read this one in a single sitting. I couldn’t put it down!)
I’m currently reading We All Looked Up (arc) by Tommy Wallach, and I’m super intrigued by its premise: the story follows four high school seniors while an asteroid heads for earth that could potentially wipe out life on earth in two months. And I love the cover!!
On the blog, I posted reviews of Atlantia by Ally Condie and The Dinner by Herman Koch. I enjoyed both books!
Coming up this week are reviews of Shutter (arc) by Courtney Alameda, and Station Eleven. Both books were great!!
That’s it for me! I’m going to meet up with some of my fellow Ottawa bloggers today, which will be fun! Ever since my husband and I bought our condo, I’ve been pretty anti-social, so I’m excited to get out and see my friends!
Happy Sunday!!

Can’t wait for your review of The Bone Clocks; did you enjoy his previous book, The Cloud Atlas?
Actually I never did read Cloud Atlas – but Kevin did, and he loved it!
