August 27 – September 2
Β
It’s September, which means I am getting excited for autumn! Bring on the cooler weather (please!), changing leaves, and cozy weekends.
It also means my vacation week is, sadly, nearly over. I’ve caught up on / started a few TV shows (Better Call Saul; The Walking Dead; The Americans; Barry). I finally saw, and loved, Crazy Rich Asians at the movie theatre, and I watched A Quiet Place.
I also read a bunch of books (but not nearly as many as I wanted to!). Overall, it was a very nice week off full of some much-needed ‘me’ time, but it went way too fast (as it always does).
New books:
I went on a Kobo shopping spree this week:
I had Victoria Schwab’s City of Ghosts pre-ordered;
I’m way behind on the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, but Kobo had Tower of Dawn on sale for $2.99 so I couldn’t pass that up;
The Dinner List by Rebecca Serle; and
A Simple Favor by Darcey Bell.
I really wanted to read ten books on vacation, but I didn’t quite get there (although I’m now six books ahead of schedule for my Goodreads goal, so that’s nice!). I only finished reading five books (but I might be able to finish one more before I have to go back to work on Tuesday):
The Ruin, Dervla McTiernan;
The Truth Lies Here, Lindsey Klingele;
City of Ghosts, Victoria Schwab (OMG I loved this book so much!!);
Broken Things, Lauren Oliver; and
The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle, Stuart Turton.
Current reads:
I’m about to start reading The Night Sister by Jennifer McMahon (September makes me want to read spooky books!).
Reviews:
I posted three reviews this week:
Foe, Iain Reid;
Goodbye Cruller World, Ginger Bolton; and
Leah on the Offbeat, Becky Albertalli.
Well, time to light my pumpkin pie-scented candle, curl up with my spooky book while it rains outside, and make the most of the end of my vacation! Happy Sunday!
