Just One Reader's Opinion!

Week In Review

March 25 – 31

Happy Easter and happy long weekend! The weather has somewhat lightened up – most of the snow is gone, the sun has been peeking out from behind the clouds, and the temperature is a little higher, so my husband and I have been trying to get out walking to enjoy this weather while it lasts!

I had Friday off work, so I tried to sleep in (almost made it to 9 am but couldn’t quite do it), and then enjoyed a nice walk with Kevin. We had gelato and chip truck, what a treat! Then we watched Cloud Atlas. Kevin has read the book, but I haven’t, so it was interesting to talk afterwards about what had been left out of the film. It was long – over two hours – but I really enjoyed it, the way the different stories all connected. It made me really want to read the book, since there is apparently a lot more to each of the stories than could fit into the film.

I posted three reviews this week: Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone, Sever, and Such A Rush.

I finished reading The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd, Execution: Escape From Furnace 5 by Alexander Gordon Smith, and Unremembered by Jessica Brody, and will be posting those review this week.

I’m currently reading Sophie Flack’s Bunheads – I’ve been wanting to read this one for ages!

I went to my first book club meeting on Wednesday night and I loved it! I’m usually really shy and quiet, and I was nervous about going and speaking up in front of people, and for a little bit I even considered not going due to nerves. However, I went, and I’m so happy that I did! Among the lovely ladies who attended were Emilie, Kathy, Ciara, and Jessica, who I’d met in February at the Ottawa Book Blogger meet up, so I was happy to see them again. There was some lively discussion about the book (The Madman’s Daughter) and I’m really looking forward to next month’s meeting when we discuss one of my favourite 2013 reads (so far), The Raven Boys!

What’s everyone else up to for the long weekend? I’m going to do some more reading, write some reviews, and play some Nintendo (Skylanders and Luigi’s Mansion)!
