Week In Review

October 6 – 12

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians! I wrote this post a little early because I was going to be out of town for the Thanksgiving long weekend, staying with family, but then I forgot to schedule it. Doh! So this is going out a bit late!

I’ve had a cold all week (sore throat, sinus congestion, etc.) so I’m hoping a long weekend will help me rest and recover.

I still have to write up my thoughts on Gone Girl (movie). I wrote down a bunch of stuff, but now I need to type it up and make sure it’s coherent and less ramble-y. I definitely loved the movie and the performances!

My book buying ban is still in effect, I’m pleased to report. I think I can actually do this! I’ve got one book coming next month that I pre-ordered ages ago (the final book in the Mara Dyer trilogy), but I don’t count that as breaking the ban, since it was pre-ordered so super long ago.

I picked up a few library books again this week: Smart by Kim Slater; Splintered by A.G. Howard (this month’s book club pick); and Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto.

I finished a few books this week: The Perfectionists (ARC) by Sara Shepard (yay!); The Fall (ARC) by Bethany Griffin; Trial by Fire (ARC) by Josephine Angelini; and Allison Hewitt is Trapped by Madeleine Roux.

Currently, I’m reading Winterspell by Claire Legrand, and still working on Heir of Fire.

Last week I posted reviews of:

Unmarked by Kami Garcia;

Mortal Gods by Kendare Blake;

The Secret History by Donna Tartt; and

The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O’Brien.

Coming up this week are my reviews of The Glass Casket, by McCormick Templeman; Welcome to the Dark House by Laurie Faria Stolarz; and Famous Last Words by Katie Alender.

Hope all my fellow Canadians enjoyed their Thanksgiving long weekend!
