May 16 – 30
Hello! I didn’t post last Sunday because I was at a post-wedding brunch for my best friend’s wedding! It was a long weekend last weekend, and I was at my BFF’s wedding on Saturday. It was such a wonderful day for an outdoor wedding! The bride was beautiful, the ceremony was lovely (I only cried a little bit), and the reception was so much fun: the food was beyond amazing, the music was great, and the bugs stayed away!
So there are a lot of new books to share from the past couple of weeks, courtesy of birthday gift cards, generous bookish friends, and some ARCs/e-ARCs:
First up is a fabulous Β prize pack that I received from Raincoast books, containing a bunch of goodies and a copy ofΒ Heartless, by Marissa Meyer;
You Know Me Well, Nina LaCour and David Levithan (ARC from Raincoast);
The Lovely Reckless, by Kami Garcia (borrowed ARC);
Places No One Knows, by Brenna Yovanoff (borrowed ARC);
Kiss Kill Vanish, by Jessica Martinez (borrowed ARC);
Maybe in Another Life, Taylor Jenkins Reid (purchased);
The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly, Stephanie Oakes (purchased e-book);
The Witch Hunter, Virginia Boecker (purchased e-book);
Summer Days and Summer Nights, Stephanie Perkins (purchased e-book);
The Best of Enemies, Jen LancasterΒ (purchased e-book);
Sweetbitter, Stephanie DanlerΒ (purchased e-book);
The Great American Whatever, Tim FederleΒ (purchased e-book);
I Saw a Man, Owen SheersΒ (purchased e-book);
Wolf Winter, Cecilia EkbackΒ (purchased e-book);
Reconstructing Amelia, Kimberly McCreightΒ (purchased e-book);
The Cabin, Natasha Preston (e-ARC via Edelweiss);
Rose and Thorn, Sarah PrineasΒ (e-ARC via Edelweiss);
Avenged, E.E. Cooper (e-ARC via Edelweiss);
The Fixes, Owen Matthews (e-ARC via Edelweiss); and
The Thousandth Floor, Katharine McGee (e-ARC via Edelweiss).
Phew! So many books! Thank you to the publishers and to my generous friends!
Despite being pretty busy these last couple of weeks, I managed to read four books:
Exit, Pursued By a Bear, E.K. Johnston;
Return to the Dark House (Dark House #2), Laurie Faria Stolarz;
A Murder in Time, Julie McElwain; and
The Merciless II: The Exorcism of Sofia Flores (ARC), Danielle Vega.
As for my current reads, I’m kind of all over the place, still reading a few books:
Into the Dim, Janet B. Taylor;
Queen of Shadows, Sarah J. Maas;
Red Velvet Cupcake Murder, Joanne Fluke; and
Even in Paradise, Chelsey Philpot (I’ve just barely started this one but it feels like a good summer read).
So it seems that I’m out of my reading slump, and getting out of my blogging slump. I posted four reviews these past couple of weeks:
The Unexpected Everything, Morgan Matson;
Burn Baby Burn, Meg Medina;
The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall, Katie Alender; and
All In, Jennifer Lynn Barnes.
Coming up this week are my reviews of The Outliers, by Kimberly McCreight, andΒ Exit, Pursued by a Bear.
That’s it for me! Time to grab some coffee and try to finish one of the books I’m currently reading. Happy Sunday!
