September 30 – October 6
Hello! Another weekend almost over. It was a busy one! Saturday was full of errands and appointments, and then a delicious dinner at the BFFs to watch the hockey game. Today I’m going to get some reading in and do some blog maintenance, and then I’m going to see Gravity this afternoon with a friend! I’m so excited to see this movie! I keep hearing good things about it, and I find the idea of space and just floating out there terrifying, so this should be an interesting movie-going experience!
Speaking of movies, as it’s October and Halloween is coming up at the end of the month and I love zombie stuff, I decided to put together a list of my favourite “zombie” movies. I’m using quotation marks because they aren’t all zombies in the traditional, commonly accepted meaning, but they are zombie-esque to me. And it’s my list – I can do what I want! Some of the movies I’ve seen recently, but the others are ones I hope to watch before Halloween gets here! In no particular order:
- 28 Days Later (one of my favourite movies of all-time)
- 28 Weeks Later (I own this but haven’t actually seen it yet!)
- Warm Bodies
- The Cabin in the Woods (not really a zombie movie, but there are zombies in it!)
- Shaun of the Dead (another all-time favourite movie)
- World War Z
- I Am Legend
- Night of the Living Dead (1968; haven’t seen this either but feel like I must!)
- Zombieland
Am I missing any good ones? What are your go-to scary movies?
I have now seen the finales of Breaking Bad and Dexter. I loved one, and had very mixed feelings about another (can you guess which is which?). And although I don’t agree with it, I have been super interested in Norm McDonald’s theory/interpretation of the Breaking Bad finale discussed on his Twitter feed. If you Google it, you’ll find some articles that break down his argument and include his Tweets. Interesting!
On to books! I finished reading Mira Grant’s Feed and Josh Grayson’s Sia this week. Currently I’m finally reading The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken (will I finish before it’s due back to the library this week? Let’s find out!).
Last week I posted my reviews of Truth or Dare by Jacqueline Green, Cracked Up To Be by Courtney Summers, Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano, Hideous Love by Stephanie Hemphill, and Life After Theft by Aprilynne Pike.
Coming up this week are my reviews of Alissa Nutting’s Tampa and Born of Illusion by Teri Brown.
I’m going to enjoy this rainy Sunday with a book, a movie at the theatre (with popcorn!), and a new episode later tonight of Bob’s Burgers. And I’m doing it all while wearing my Welcome to Nightvale t-shirt! Happy Sunday!
