Just One Reader's Opinion!

Week In Review

May 11 – 24

Last weekend was a long weekend, and Sunday was my birthday, so I took a break from doing my usual Week in Review post. I’ll see if I can fill in the blanks re: what I read, received, etc.

The big thing in my life this past week has been The Hillywood Show’s Supernatural parody video! If you like Supernatural and Taylor Swift, this will make your day! Link here if the video below doesn’t work (spoiler alert if you haven’t seen seasons 9 and 10). This is like my favourite thing in the world right now. I’ve watched it probably a zillion times and it makes me so happy!!!

I’ve also been playing a lot of Guild Wars 2, which my sister and her husband got for me as a birthday present. That has eaten up a lot of time that would have otherwise been spent reading, so I haven’t read as much lately as usual. And I don’t mind because I’m having so much fun with the game!

Okay on to books. In the last couple of weeks, I received ARCs (thank you Raincoast and Chronicle Books!) of:

Nil Unlocked, by Lynne Matson;

Joyride, by Anna Banks; and

A History of Glitter and Blood, by Hannah Moskowitz.

I also purchased a few new books in the past couple of weeks for my bookshelf and e-bookshelf:

Daughter of Deep Silence, by Carrie Ryan (this was a preorder that is on its way to me now and I can’t wait to read it!!!!!!);

Nimona, by Noelle Stevenson;

What We See When We Read, by Peter Mendelsund;

What Waits in the Woods, by Kieran Scott;

The Wrath and the Dawn, by Renee Ahdieh; and

An Ember in the Ashes, by Saaa Tahir.

Whew! I think that’s all of them. I’ve already read and loved Nimona and now the fun part: choosing what to start reading next!

I finished reading a bunch of books in the past two weeks, in addition to Nimona:

The Wicked Will Rise, by Danielle Paige;

Lois Lane: Fallout, by Gwenda Bond;

The Martian, by Andy Weir;

Tiny Pretty Things, by Sona Charaipotra and Dhonielle Clayton (ARC);

Survive the Night, by Danielle Paige (ARC); and

I’ll Meet You There, by Heather Demetrios (ARC).

Some of those books were amazing, and others made me feel just meh. Some of those reviews have already been posted and the rest will be on the blog soon!

Currently, I’m reading The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell, and Adorkable by Sarra Manning.

Reviews for the last couple of weeks were:

Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend, by Katie Finn;

Killer Within, by S.E. Green (ARC);

The Wicked Will Rise, by Danielle Paige; and

Lois Lane: Fallout, by Gwenda Bond.

I also posted some of my Supernatural rewatch thoughts: episodes eight (Bugs), nine (Home), ten (Asylum), and eleven (Scarecrow).

Coming up this week are reviews of The Martian and I’ll Meet You There, along with two more Supernatural rewatch posts!

Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend, full of good coffee and good books! Happy Sunday!

    I wound up enjoying this book so much that I immediately bought the rest of the books in the series and read them all one right after the other!
